Borehamwood earned a
reputation as expert escape artists last week when
playing Watford on 3 rinks in the Ray Cup, when Dave
Mooring, Dave Middleditch and Neville Simons skipped by
Don Putman came from 10-21 down to win the last 6 ends
to triumph 24-21.With Alan Rose,Colin Williams and Ken
Sharp skipped by Tom Barker victorious 23-16, a relieved
Borehamwood went through to the next round by 63 shots
to 58.
In the Watford &
District League away to Bushey, Borehamwood again came
from behind to earn a hard-fought draw 68-68 thanks to
an emphatic victory by Alan Rose, Harry Massey and Don
Putman skipped by Tom Barker, 36-18.
Borehamwood Ladies
had a most successful week. In a mixed triples friendly
against Barnet they secured an excellent win by 61 shots
to 36, with Joyce Wrigley and Ivy Eales skipped by Betty
Massey, 25-10, and Top Rink Audrey Page and Tina Job
skipped by Joan Tester, 27-5.
In another mixed
triples friendly this time against Welwyn, Wood won on
all 3 rinks to record a massive 66-34 victory. (Dot
Aslin, Ivy Eales and Audrey Page, 17-14, Joyce Wrigley,
Tina Job and Joan Tester, 19-17, and Ann Atkin, Peggy
Pollintine and Madge Barker, 30-13)
To round off the
week, the Ladies had a wonderful win in the Jubilee Cup
against Oxhey winning on both rinks to progress to the
semi-final, with Anita Prosser, Jean Snook and Joan
Tester 21-13, and Pat Talbot, Eileen Mason and Margaret
Moseley, 24-11.
