Some notable
individual performances proved to be the highlights of
the week for Borehamwood.
Arthur Moseley eased past Tom Webb from Tring B.C. 21-18
to reach the semi-final of the Watfotd & District Past
President's Singles.
Not to be outdone, his other half Margaret also reached
the semi-final of the Watford & District Ladies Singles
by defeating Rosemary Giggs of Kings Langley, 22-13.
However, the performance of the week belongs to
Borehamwood's Singles Champion Ken Sharp who reached the
final of the St. Albans & District Champion of Champions
Competition with his hard-fought win 21-17 over Richard
Pearce of Potters Bar.
In a mixed triples friendly on four rinks, Wood went
down heavily 46-82 away to Oakhill, their only winning
rink being Lesley Martin and Dave Middleditch skipped by
Tom Barker (19-15). In another mixed triples friendly on
four rinks, Borehamwood again found themselves on the
losing side, albeit this time only by four shots 75-79
against their neighbours Rowley Lane, their two winning
rinks being Eric Swain and Ivy Eales skipped by Doris
Edwards (20-19), and Paul Stephens and Joyce Wrigley
skipped by Dave Mooring by an overwhelming 26 shots to
11.
Borehamwood achieved an excellent win in the Watford &
District League by defeating North Watford on all 3
rinks by 73 shots to 50.Roy Edwards, Alan Rose,Ralph
Middleditch and Andy Bennett (22-21), Don Putman, Adrian
Pardini, Dave Mooring and Dave Middleditch (28-15), and
Dave Winter, John Roe,
Brian Mayhew and Arthur Muir ( 23-14 ).
