In
a mixed triples friendly away to Mill Hill, Borehamwood were
victorious on 3 of the 4 rinks played. Winning scores were
Lesley Martin and Adrian Pardini skipped by Harry Massey
21-16, Eric Swain and Barry Coles skipped by Sid Butcher
16-10, and Top Rink Bryan Mayson and Fred Paine
skipped by Betty Massey, 19-11.
Borehamwood's Ken Sharp progressed to the third round of the
Watford & District Champion of Champions Competition when he
fairly demolished his opponent by 22 shots to 7.
The Club itself then progressed to the next round of the Ray
Cup by beating North Watford 69-58 on 3 rinks. Their two
winning rinks were Alan Rose, Ken Sharp and Colin Williams
skipped by Dave Winter who came out on top 25-18, and John
Roe, Danny Agras and Roy Edwards skipped by Arthur Moseley
who triumphed 31-22.
To cap off a highly successful week, Borehamwood played the
first of their special celebratory matches to mark their
Golden Jubilee Year by hosting the Hertfordshire County
Bowling Association President's Team on 5 rinks, and against
the cream of the County they surprised their visitors by
winning the match by 109 - 96. After an excellent dinner
following the game, Herfordshire County Captain Don Fox
congratulated Borehamwood and said that they would be
presented with a plaque to commemorate this win at the
Annual Dinner.
