Press Report - 18th July 2006 With temperatures in the nineties last week when Borehamwood entertained Batchwood last Wednesday at Meadow Park, the two captains sensibly decided to shorten the match from 21 to 15 ends.The heat seemed to agree more with Borehamwood who triumphed 43-33, winning on all three rinks. Details were Harry Massey, Tony Winston and John Tester skipped by Malcolm Page 13-12, Eric Swain, George Gable and Bryan Mayson skipped by Arthur Muir,16-13 and Top Rink Peter Hedges, Barry Coles and Brian Mayhew skipped by Sid Butcher, 14-8.In the County League the following day, Borehamwood beat East Barnet Valley 47-26. Arthur Muir, Andy Bennett and Dave Middleditch skipped by Tom Barker drew 17-17, and Alan Rose, Neville Simons and Don Putman skipped by Roy Edwards had a marvellous win by 30 shots to 9.With the result in doubt until the last end , Borehamwood scraped through by 60 shots to 57 at home to Oxhey to record only their fourth win in the Watford & District League this season.Two of their three rinks won with Adrian Pardini, Malcolm Page and Mick Glover skipped by Roy Edwards pipping their opponents 24-22 after being down 4-14 after 11 ends, and Top Rink Barry Coles, Tony Winston and Peter Job skipped by Don Putman, 24-14.
