Membership Fees

Please note: the details below relate to membership of the club whilst our real grass bowls green is available, which costs a lots of money to maintain.  As we are moving to an artificial "green" in 2019, the club fees are likely change but we are unable to provide further details at the moment.
  • Existing members Full Membership renewal fee is £90 per annum.
  • New members Full Membership first season fee is 50% of the Full Membership renewal fee (applies for any new member joining during the current season and for that season only).
  • Entry into most of our internal club competitions is £2.00 per tournament for Full Members only.
  • Associate Membership (or Midweek Membership) is £10 per annum (for the first and one year only, not available to existing or re-joining members, or after one year as an Associate Member).
  • Other fees will be payable for special events, e.g. where an after match supper or barbeque is provided, or for events such as quiz nights, Christmas party, etc.  After match suppers are typically fish & chips or similar, and are sourced from a local food outlet at reasonable cost.

Please click here for our Constitution and Rules to view full details of membership levels.

  • We are an outdoor flat green bowls club located in Borehamwood town centre, Hertfordshire (see Contact Us/Location page).
  • We are registered with HMR&C as a Community Amateur Sports Club (CASC).
  • The Club is run by members for "The Benefit of Members".
  • Members range from Life Members to people who have joined within the past year.  Our members come from all walks of life and backgrounds, and everyone is welcome.
  • We play both competitive and friendly matches throughout the outdoor season from April to September. We take part in various League and Cup competitions as well as internal competitions and fun drives. Indoor fixtures may be arranged during the closed season between October to April. During the closed season, the club arranges various social events which we hope appeal to all our members and their families.
  • The clubhouse has excellent facilities (which includes a licensed bar with very reasonable prices). The Club is maintained on a completely voluntary basis, with Club members offering to participate in running the bar, catering, cleaning rotas, tea rotas, etc.
  • Our Greens Committee (also a group of volunteer Club members) maintain our green, which involves cutting the green several times a week during the playing season and also managing the gardens, hedges and surrounding areas. Our Green is considered one of the best in Hertfordshire.
  • Bowling does not always have to be competitive – every Tuesday evening all bowlers who turn up can participate in a friendly “roll-up”.  In addition we have a "Monday League", an informal in-house competition of teams and provides a good opportunity to meet everyone.
  • We welcome members of any age, whether you are new to bowls or are an experienced bowler looking to join a new club. You are equally welcome to come and give us a try as we will lend equipment.  All we ask is you bring flat soled footwear (carpet slippers will do).
  • We have many members willing to help new bowlers find their feet on the green and to assist more experienced players to improve their skills and knowledge of the sport, so don’t be shy in asking for advice or assistance.
  • Why not visit us for a chat, or call or write to us – Contact Us for details.
